File app = new File("/Users/svc-mac/Desktop/TestApp.ipa");
capabilities.setCapability(“app”, app.getAbsolutePath());

OK, I don’t actually see any issues with that logfile posted … are there any errors further on?

What is your test trying to do?

Hi, thanks for the reply

We are trying to open an ios app using IPA file path on the simulator (ipad) , the iOS app will launches and immediately crashes this continues for a long time in a loop

(Note: for testing purpose when we tried with UIcatalog .app it works well on the same simulator)

I noticed one observation from the appium log file is
[XCUITest] WDA is not listening at ‘http://localhost:8100/’. Rebuilding…

Any help will be appreciated

IPA file is build for ARM architecture (iDevice). Simulator runs on x86 architecture (Your Mac) so you need to compile for that. You won’t need to compress into .ipa format, so .app is fine. You’ll probably want to bring this up with the developers. You need a Debug build for Simulator. Here is some instruction that may help:

thanks for the quick reply - will work with Dev team on this.

on ipad we are able to launch the test app from IPA file - thanks for the feedback

Hi , I do have one doubt here. Do I need .IPA file if I want to run on real device? OR real device also need .app?

I’m facing the above issue with real device …using .ipa file

Very urgent ,help is very much appricitated .its challenging

@sherbhachu Please help
