Looks like the new Appium Desktop (Version 1.0.0 (1.0.0)) comes pre-packaged with Appium v1.6.4. In the old Appium GUI, you could run the server with a specific version of Appium with the Use External Appium Package Develop Option. Our tests currently run on a custom built Appium v1.6.2 but we don’t see a similar option in the new GUI. We really like the new features built into the Desktop GUI but would prefer not to upgrade to 1.6.4 at this time.
