# "sessionId" : null

Hello dear friends,

Have some problem:  
**Prerequirements**  
Macos 10.15.7 Catalina (mac mini)

> Appium 1.18.3  
> node v12.18.1  
> npm 6.14.5

1. Installed the appium by npm install -g appium
2. installed dependencies ./Scripts/bootstrap.sh
3. added sing cert developer to xcode
4. When i opened WebDriverAgentRunner (/usr/local/lib/node\_modules/appium/node\_modules/appium-webdriveragent)
5. Real or simulator device the same problem
6. Products \> Test
7. Then i try to get status from device by IP  
[http://192.168.1.58:8100/\*\*status](http://192.168.1.58:8100/**status)\*\*

There i get **“sessionId” : null**  
No errors in logs

The answer is: before need to send POST with capabilities to create session like this:  
POST [http://192.168.1.42:20001/session](http://192.168.1.42:20001/session)  
{“capabilities”:{}}

```auto
curl --location --request POST 'http://192.168.1.42:20001/session' \
--header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
--data-raw '{"capabilities":{}}'

```
