I’am just a beginner, just started using appium.Need help! for running my first program Following is my code in appium
package test;
import java.io.File;
import java.net.MalformedURLException;
import java.net.URL;
import java.util.concurrent.TimeUnit;

import org.openqa.selenium.remote.DesiredCapabilities;

import io.appium.java_client.android.AndroidDriver;
import io.appium.java_client.android.AndroidElement;
import io.appium.java_client.remote.MobileCapabilityType;

public class TestApp {
public static void main(String[] args) throws MalformedURLException{

	// TODO Auto-generated method stub
 File appDir = new File("src");
 File app = new File(appDir, "ApiDemos-debug.apk");
 DesiredCapabilities capabilities = new DesiredCapabilities();

 capabilities.setCapability(MobileCapabilityType.DEVICE_NAME, "Demo");
 capabilities.setCapability(MobileCapabilityType.APP, app.getAbsolutePath());
AndroidDriver<AndroidElement> driver = new AndroidDriver<>(new URL("http://127.0.0.1:4723/wd/hub"), capabilities);

}

When I run the code I will get the following error.

Follow your ‘caused by’ and you’ll see this:

Looks like java has an issue on your machine (I believe the Java Client also has a bug that needs to be fixed to propogate that error out to the main exception)

#3

Can you please help with resolving the issue with java?

#4

Open a terminal on your machine and check what java -version returns. It should be something like this:

$ java -version
java version "1.8.0_181"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_181-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.181-b13, mixed mode)

If not, then you might just need to install java on your machine

#5

I just verified the java version here it is looks good
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_181\bin>java -version
java version “1.8.0_181”
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_181-b13)
Java HotSpot™ 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.181-b13, mixed mode)

#6

Just wondering if any external jar is missing! Can you help in resolving this issue quickly!

#7

can you run java -version outside your java jdk bin directory with success?

#8

looks like there is an issue
Tried the following
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_181>java -version
and got the error
Error: could not find java.dll
Error: Could not find Java SE Runtime Environment.
Also tried in the path C:\Program Files\Java>java -version
and got the error
Error: could not find java.dll
Error: Could not find Java SE Runtime Environment.

#9

How did you resolve the error dude ?
