I was just watching your conference: Jonathan Lipps “Appium: Mobile Automation Made Awesome” and at some point you mention you wanted to implement image recognition. In your words “find an area by image”.
Is there any news on this field?

appium supports capturing screenshots so you can do the analysis client side. Also http://applitools.com/ works with appium.
