Any pointers please ?

Firstly, Appium 1.4 won’t work with Xcode 8, so stick with 7 for now.

Second, what are your capabilities? Looks like you are trying to install by bundle id:

Can you try putting the path to the .app file in the capabilities instead?

Hi wreed,

I have tried with 7 as well
Yes, via xcode we are building our app and configure the path in appium under App path.

Can you please brief a bit more where you want us to change the .app path ?

Thanks for reply.

Thanks for the screenshot, that’s helpful.

Can you try just unchecking the BundleID entry? I just looked at mine & I don’t use that.

Getting error
error: Failed to start an Appium session, err was: Error: Could not find a device to launch.

I think bundleID is important else appium won’t know which device you want to access.

Hmm. bundleID is only used for the app. It doesn’t really have anything to do with the device.

Could you share the complete error?

Wreed, Please see below

It’s very strange because when I look at your screenshot, you clearly have it set for ‘iPhone 6’. Have you changed the settings at all?

Here’s my best advice:

  1. Rename the device to something less generic. It is very likely that you will have a conflict with a simulator when you name things, ‘iPhone’, or ‘iPhone 6’. How about naming it ‘testers_iPhone6-iOS8.4’ or something similar?
  2. Uncheck both ‘BundleID’ and ‘Show Simulator Logs’. I don’t think you need those.

Let me know how that goes. Good Luck!

Thanks, but getting the same error :frowning:

What did you change? Which version of Xcode are you using?

Also, which error are you getting? You started this thread with an ‘install’ error, but later it seems you had a ‘device not found’ error. Which one are you seeing now? A screenshot would help, and logs taken while the app is in the state represented by the screenshot.

Even I am also facing the same error.I am not able to prelaunch the application using appium and not able to launch web inspector.

Xcode:7.1.3
Appium:1.4.13

This is my appium logs

Can some one please help me on this.

I resolved this issue after I uncheck bundle id

I’m glad I could help.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Wreed,

Let me give you steps from beginning what I have tried.

  1. Build the .app file from Xcode 7
  2. In apppium 1.4, app path is set to .app file.
  3. Unchecked the BundleID and Show Simulator Logs
  4. Then run
  5. Error as below

Can you verify that the .app file can be installed on this device through iTunes or Xcode?

Also, have you done this: Settings>Developer>and Enable UI Automation on the device?

yes, I am able to install via Xcode successfully and UI Automation is enabled.

I ran some experiments with an iOS 9 device today on Appium 1.4.16, but got it all working. I did have a problem where I didn’t have the name set correctly in the Appium iOS settings. Once I fixed that it worked fine. To check the name/udid of the device, you can type this on the command line:

instruments -s devices

Other than that I’m not sure. You can try installing w/ Xcode first and then running. If you do this, check the ‘no reset’ box so it won’t try to reinstall.
