Please Clarify - Can Appium automate IOS push notifications and settings for real devices?

I am trying to automate push notifications and settings for real IOS devices. I am looking for clarification because there is nothing that explicitly says this.

  1. My understanding is that Appium currently does not support the
    ability to automate settings on real devices because any IOS apps
    that are automated must be signed by the developer of the app. Is
    this accurate?

  2. Also, its still not clear to me if Appium supports automation of IOS
    push notifications. Can someone clarify if this can be done?
