Start driver with simulator and app already running

Hi, Appium experts:

  • Platform: iOS and Android)

  • Appium Version: 1.3.4

  • Emulator/Simulator or Real Device: Emulator

  • Client language: Java

  • OS: OSX 10.9.6

    Is there a way to start a driver without restarting the iOS simulator? I like to do this because it saves a lot of time when debugging. With iOS simulator running my application, I don’t need to drive my application from beginning point every time. I start my driver using Java code as below:

File app = new File(“MyApps”, value);
DesiredCapabilities capabilities = new DesiredCapabilities();
capabilities.setCapability(“deviceName”, attribute);
capabilities.setCapability(“platformName”, “iOS”);
capabilities.setCapability(“platformVersion”, “8.1”);
capabilities.setCapability(“noReset”, true);
capabilities.setCapability(“app”, app.getAbsolutePath());
capabilities.setCapability(“newCommandTimeout”, 600);
driver = new RemoteWebDriver(new URL(“”), capabilities);

This setting does not reset/reinstall my application, but it does restart the iOS simulator every time and it takes some minutes for simulator restart. How do I initialize a driver with simulator/application already running?

Thanks in advance

Anyone know how to solve this issue?
