Unable to install appium

I’m new to Appium and I have tried to install appium with command :
npm install -g appium

Error message shown is -

brew update
sudo npm install gulp -g

Tried to run these commands. Brew is up to date and when I run command sudo npm install gulp -g i receive warnings.

try also as suggested:
Please update to graceful-fs@^4.0.0 as soon as possible. Use ‘npm ls graceful-fs’ to find it in the tree.
/usr/local/bin/gulp -> /usr/local/lib/node_modules/gulp/bin/gulp.js

I have tried this before replying. I tried with npm ls graceful-fs which resulted:

Why are you trying to command beta versions ?

As Appium 1.5.3 is not supporting iOS 10 and Xcode 8 versions.
